Interests

Eilish has cited a variety of musical influences, from Peggy Lee to Justin Bieber, The Beatles, Green Day, Avril Lavigne, and Drake. However, it appears that Eilish holds Tyler The Creator and Amy Winehouse in particularly high regard for music.

Billie’s love for music was evident from an early age, but she also developed a passion for horses, dancing, and photography. At the age of eight, she joined the Los Angeles children’s chorus. She attempted to act around the same time, but it was clear she did not want to follow in her parent’s footsteps.

Billie and her two friends entered the 96-hour Film Festival at the age of nine, where they had to write, film, and edit a short film within 96 hours. Eilish also enjoyed being around horses, but her family could not afford to pay for riding lessons. Billie was only ten years old when she began working at a local stable to pay for riding lessons.

Billie, a creative child with a genuine appreciation for the arts, spent up to 11 hours per week dancing at the local dance studio. She enjoyed dancing but was not a fan of ballet. However, she still needed to learn ballet and has experience in Tap, Jazz, and other dance styles.

Billie joined the Revolution Dance Center dance company at 13, but she has no fond memories of her time there.

Early Career

Billie suffered a growth plate injury in 2015, which forced her to hang up her dancing shoes. However, this would prove to be a blessing in disguise as Billie began to collaborate with her older brother Finneas on music.

It is no secret that the two are close, with Helena referring to Finneas as her brother and best friend with regularity. Currently, Finneas produces and co-writes all of Billie’s music.

However, this was not always the case, as Billie explained to Variety the first song they collaborated on but did not write together. Billie wrote the song Fingers Crossed, while her brother composed She’s Broken.

They recorded their songs and uploaded them to SoundCloud for fun, and Billie was only 13 years old at the time. However, it wasn’t long before they collaborated on the breakthrough single Ocean Eyes, which forever altered their lives.

The song was initially composed for Finneas’ band at the time; however, Billie’s older brother believed it would sound best sung by her. A few days before Finneas approached Billie with the song, Billie’s former dance instructor requested that she and Finneas create a song for him to teach a choreographed dance to.

After Finneas taught Billie the song, they assembled it and uploaded it to SoundCloud for their dance instructor to download. Billie explained that we uploaded the song with a free download link, but almost immediately a large number of people began sharing it.

Following this, her manager, Danny Rukasin, contacted her brother to discuss Eilish’s potential.

Eilish’s breakthrough single “Bad Guy” topped the Billboard charts and earned her first number one in the United Kingdom with No Time To Die. In July of 2021, Eilish released her second studio album titled Happier Than Ever.

The album was lauded for its confessional songs, many of which addressed the negative aspects of her celebrity. Her music videos feature cutting-edge cinematography, dark hues, and profound messages.
