Early Life

Horschel was born on December 7, 1986, in Florida to parents Billy Horschel Dr. and Kathy Horschel. He has two brothers who share his passion for athletics. Horschel first pursued Baseball, but a 14-year-old injury pushed him to pick Golf. Since that time, he desired to play golf professionally.

Horschel graduated with a degree in Sports Management from the University of Florida. He attended college on a golf scholarship with the Florida Gator men’s golf team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

He played from 2006 to 2009 and received three first-team honors, four All-American awards, and the SEC Player of the Year award in 2007 and 2009. In 2007 and 2008, Horschel represented the United States at the Palmer Cup twice. He won the famous Walker Cup as well.

In 2010, Horschel married Brittany Nelson. The pair met while attending the University of Florida and now have three children together. Brittany also played golf in college but quit due to an injury.

In addition to golf, Horschel likes skiing on occasion. In Major League Baseball, he follows the Boston Red Sox, as well as the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars.


Horschel’s full-time professional career began in 2009 when he received a PGA Tour qualifying card. His wrist ailment prevented him from winning any of the games.

Horschel went on to compete in the Mayakoba Golf Classic and True South Classic but was unsuccessful in both. In 2012’s Tour, his best performance was a fourth-place finish at the UGA Stadion Classic.
