By the Grace of the Gods Season 2- By the Grace of the Gods shares similarities with isekai series such as “KonoSuba” and “My Isekai Life.” The series of light novels written by Roy and illustrated by Ririnra begins with the protagonist dying and being reborn in a fantastical world.
The protagonist’s fate in “By the Grace of the Gods” may surpass “KonoSuba” for the most humiliating death in anime, or at the very least be a worthy competitor. After all, a severe sneeze is rarely the cause of death for the protagonist of a series.
However, the subsequent adventures in “By the Grace of the Gods” have a tone distinct from “KonoSuba.” Notably, instead of frenzied comedic escapades in a fantasy world, “By the Grace of the Gods” is a bit more slice of life, with the protagonist taking his time in the villages he visits and frequently assisting others without the necessity to fight.
The light novels finally received a successful anime adaptation in the year 2020. A new season of the anime “By the Grace of the Gods” has fortunately already been confirmed.
By the Grace of the Gods Season 2 Release Date
Season 1 of “By the Grace of the Gods” concluded its 12-episode run in late 2020. Fans waited for confirmation of a second season for months. In June 2021, however, the official anime website for “By the Grace of the Gods” announced that production on the second season has commenced. The official release date for the new season has not yet been announced.
The new season could premiere as early as 2022, specifically during the fall anime season of that year. This would be comparable to the launch of Season 1 in October 2020. If not, “By the Grace of the Gods” must be published no later than 2023.
Funimation has previously verified the status of the western release of Season 2 of “By the Grace of the Gods.” Funimation stated on the same day that Season 2 was confirmed that it would stream the next season as it airs in Japan.
The rapid confirmation of Funimation’s streaming plans for “By the Grace of the Gods” seems logical, given that the site streamed the first season and provided the English dub. Funimation will likely also do the English dub for the second season, even though Funimation has not yet made an official announcement to that effect.
By the Grace of the Gods Season 2 Cast
Kaho Deguchi, the principal animation director of “By the Grace of the Gods,” offered a special artwork of the series’ main character Ryoma via Funimation to mark the creation of Season 2.
The series begins with Ryoma, a 39-year-old Japanese salaryman, being resurrected into a new planet as an 8-year-old youngster capable of controlling hundreds of slime monsters. Ryoma’s exploits in his new world are far more gratifying than his previous, unremarkable adult life and death by sneezing so hard he hit his head and bled to death.
The second season of “By the Grace of the Gods” may reconnect Ryoma with his best friend Eliaria Jamil and the Jamil family as a whole.
Eliana and her family are among the most hospitable and skilled individuals the young adventurer meets. According to the official anime website, Eliaria travels to the royal capital to concentrate more on her magic. Ryoma says that he would visit her again in three years. In addition to revisiting existing characters, Season 2 could also introduce brand-new characters not previously seen in the light novels.
- Inoue as Lulutia Hiroki
- Yūki Kuwahara as Eliaria Daisuke
- Ono as Reinhart Marika
- Kōno as Miya Motomu
- Kiyokawa as Gain Kikuko
- Yasumoto as Ryoma Takebayashi
- Makoto Furukawa as Tabuchi
By the Grace of the Gods Season 2 Plot
Ryoma again leaves the Jamil family towards the end of Season 1 of “By the Grace of the Gods” after avoiding a potential crisis involving the attack of a hamlet by hazardous lemur birds and sets out to build himself a new home. The second season will likely focus on Ryoma’s adventures with his slime monsters. While the anime has adhered to the majority of the major plot points from the original light novels, Season 2 could yet utilize other volumes for episodes.
For instance, in Volume 4 of the novel, immediately after leaving the Jamil family, Ryoma begins making arrangements for a second business. He also has his first successful solo adventure and attends a wedding so lavish that gods from his planet are in attendance (via J-Novel Club). The planned second season of the “By the Grace of the Gods” anime will likely cover a considerable portion of these major events from the light novels.
The Popularity of the Anime
In the year 2020, By the Grace of the Gods was a popular anime. However, its popularity is restricted worldwide, particularly in Japan. Several unpopular projects have been approved for the upcoming season. However, considering the show’s current popularity, future seasons may be at risk.
Currently, just about 20,000 people follow the official Twitter account for the series. Anime authorized for a second season often have a fanbase of at least 100,000 people. When we examine the search volume on Google and the data from Myanimelist, we may conclude that anime is not wildly popular worldwide. The second season of the anime will provide an excellent opportunity for its popularity to rise.
