The entire number of episodes and/or seasons has not yet been revealed.
You can wonder, “What is a cour?” A “cour” is a three-month block of Japanese television broadcasting based on the physical seasons, typically consisting of 10 to 13 episodes.
On April 16, 2022, anime news leaker Sugoi LITE claimed to have knowledge of the original release date for Chainsaw Man Episode 1.
The tweet claimed, “TV Anime “Chainsaw Man” – Fall 2022 Broadcast.” A following tweet stated that the leaker was aware of the information “three days ago.”
Another anime news leaker, Jaymes Hanson, remarked, “Lol…. I’m simply giggling at the doubters, I don’t know what news or leak you have, but thanks for confirming.” Sugoi LITE said, “I received ‘words’ three days ago. When I initially heard of it, I was advised to stay sceptical.
Additionally, on 22 March 2022, Jaymes Hanson stated, “Chainsaw Man Anime is 2-Cour, Fall.”
No official sources, such as the Chainsaw Man anime website or the Studio MAPPA Twitter account, have confirmed the release date information. All anime-related rumours should be treated with a grain of salt.
However, Sugoi LITE has a history of making accurate claims. In addition, these leaks frequently occurred barely days before the official announcements were made public.
The sole reason why people are hesitant to believe the leak is because unreliable news outlets earlier claimed that the Chainsaw Man anime release date was “confirmed” by Studio MAPPA during the February 2022 Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie celebration event. It just so happens that the prior false information may become true.
Director Ry Nakayama is in charge of the Chainsaw Man anime production (Black Clover, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 episode director). Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover) is the director of action. The screenplays are written by Hiroshi Seko (Ajin, Attack on Titan Season 4).
Kazutaka Sugiyama (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) is the human character designer, while Kiyotaka Oshiyama (DEVILMAN crybaby, Space Dandy) is the demon character designer. The principal technical director is Makoto Nakazono (DARLING in the FRANXX, Little Witch Academia). The soundtrack is composed by Agraph/Kensuke Ushio (DEVILMAN crybaby, A Silent Voice).
The opening and ending theme songs for The Chainsaw Man have not yet been announced.
This article contains everything known about Chainsaw Season 1 (Chainsaw Man Part 1) and any related news. As such, this article will be updated with news, rumours, and commentary throughout time. In the meantime, let’s examine what is known to be true.
Chainsaw Man Release Date in 2022 Is Really Confirmed
As per the most recent information, neither Studio MAPPA nor any other entity involved in the development of the anime have announced the release date for the first season of Chainsaw Man. However, Studio MAPPA’s Chainsaw Man anime adaptation was initially revealed in December 2020.
Once the news is officially confirmed, the necessary information will be added to this article.
In the meanwhile, it is feasible to hypothesise about the future release date of the Chainsaw Man anime.
The first Chainsaw Man trailer teaser was released on June 27, 2021. On December 18, 2021, it was confirmed that MAPPA intended to release Chainsaw Man in 2022.
At this point, it looks unlikely that Chainsaw Man would be released in Summer 2022, as it would be uncommon for MAPPA not to declare a general release window only 2.5 months before Summer 2022. This leaves Fall 2022 as the only plausible target release date for Chainsaw Man.
According to MAPPA’s works page, their goal to release in 2022 has not changed. Heaven forbid, but it is possible that the increasingly busy animation studio will delay Chainsaw Man until 2023 so that none of the animators are (metaphorically) shackled to their desks.
Chainsaw Man Anime Part 2 Release Date Predicted for Spring 2023
In addition to Japanese publisher Shueisha, Studio MAPPA has been given a seat on the Chainsaw Man anime production committee. A committee is a group of companies invested in an anime project that share both the risk and the rewards.
Therefore, MAPPA has a vested interest in ensuring that the final season is as successful as possible. They should also have greater control over the adaptation of the manga’s story.
Based on the story’s pacing, animation studio MAPPA may adapt Part 1 of the manga as two courses. To maintain a good production schedule and a high level of animation quality, the studio could also divide the courses.
A “split-cour” occurs when a single anime season takes a multi-month break before resuming TV broadcasting. If this occurs, the first season of the anime will feature Chainsaw Man Part 2, which should not be confused with the manga’s Part 2 School Arc (Gakko-hen), which will be released in the summer of 2022.
Studio MAPPA has, arguably, too many projects on its plate in 2022. There is Chainsaw Man, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, Dance Dance Danseur on Disney+, Kakegurui Twin, Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory, and the Yuri on Ice film.
The release dates for Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 are both confirmed for 2023. In development is the alien-themed Zombieland Saga film. Given this information, it would not be surprising if the Chainsaw Man Part 2 anime is released in the spring of 2023.
Why a Chainsaw Man Part 2 Anime Is Necessary
The anime television series Chainsaw Man will be based on the manga of the same name by creator Tatsuki Fujimoto. Since December 2020, Chainsaw Man Part 1 has been serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It concluded in December 2020 with 97 chapters collected in 11 volumes.
The second volume of The Chainsaw Man manga will be released in the summer of 2022. It will involve Denji attending school. The manga series will be moved from Weekly Shonen Jump to Shonen Jump Plus, an online digital magazine published by Shueisha.
The North American publisher VIZ Media is releasing Chainsaw Man Part 1 in the United States and other English-speaking nations. The English translation of the Chainsaw Man manga will catch up with Volume 11 on June 7, 2022.
The 97 chapters of the Chainsaw Man Part 1 manga do not provide a satisfying conclusion to any of its story arcs, so two cour (roughly 24-26 episodes) seem necessary to conclude the anime’s first season without leaving viewers hanging.
Some manga fans might argue that the story would move too quickly, but with two courses, the Chainsaw Man anime would still be superior to Studio MAPPA’s first adaptation of The God of Highschool, which crammed 112 chapters into 13 episodes.
Assuming Chainsaw Man Episode 24 concludes the first season, the adaptation pace would be approximately four chapters per episode. The frenetic story pacing of the manga is also conducive to a complete adaptation of Part 1.
We can only hope that Chainsaw Man Season 1’s animation meets the high standards set by previous MAPPA productions. Stay informed!
Is the Chainsaw Man Anime Going to Be on Netflix?
This was revealed by the Twitter user @MangaMogura, who wrote, “Chainsaw-man TV anime by Studio Mappa will be available on Netflix, according to a reputable Weibo user.”
