In 1985, Brooks began playing guitar and singing in local bars and clubs after graduating from college. A lawyer for the entertainment industry traveled from Dallas to Stillwater, Oklahoma solely to see Brooks perform. He offered to record his initial demo. Brooks’s debut album,Hungry Years,” was published in 1989. The album topped the country album charts at number two.
