The upcoming Spanish television series ‘Heirs to the Land’ (Spanish: Los herders de la Tierra) is based on the novel of the same name by Ildefonso Falcones. It is a follow-up to Cathedral of the Sea, which takes place in 14th-century Barcelona.

Heirs to the Land: Plot
Hugo Lloris, a young man aspiring to be a shipbuilder, is the protagonist of the novel set in 14th-century Barcelona.
Hugo Lloris is a 12-year-old street child who spends his days on the streets. His days are similarly spent in shipyards, and he aspires to work as a shipbuilder, albeit with an uncertain future.
Hugo’s childhood is difficult; he is a lonely child whose mother is forced to abandon him, but he is cared for and protected by Arnau Estanyol, a respected elderly man.

Details on the ‘heirs to the Land’ Production
Heirs to the Land is based on the novel Los Herederos de la Tierra by Ildefonso Falcones, which was published by Grijalbo in 2016. Heirs to the Land is the sequel to Cathedral of the Sea, which was also directed by Jordi Frades.
Diagonal TV will produce the series, which will begin filming in November 2020 in Barcelona. Tamarit Beach in Tarragona and Hostalric Castle in Girona were used as filming locations.
The series will premiere on Netflix for a 12-month period before moving to Atresmedia and Televisió de Catalunya for a three-month run.
