We are looking forward to Indiana Jones 5, as it appears that Dr. Jones will be joined by a formidable cast of co-stars. Yes, the early acquisitions of Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge were apparently insufficient; they had to go out and add cast members that have us blinking our eyes, looking at a cast that is almost too good and wondering if this is a trap we need to solve delicately.

The most recent installment in the Indiana Jones story, and the first to be produced by The Walt Disney Company, is presently untitled. Since 2008, it has become a topic of conversation. As the sequel to the critically panned Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana Jones 5 also has a lot of work to do.

Who then will be entrusted to ensure that Dr. Jones and his whip have a more enjoyable outing? The latest addition to the cast of Indiana Jones 5 is a substantial one, giving us even more reason to believe in this new endeavor. Even the film’s composer lends credence to the notion that this is one of the most anticipated films of 2022.

And while it wasn’t announced explicitly, reports from D23 indicate that Ford claimed this is his last film in the series.

Since 2008, when executives were still discussing Shia LaBeouf’s possible return, production on Indiana Jones 5 has been underway. George Lucas stated that there was a possibility that LaBeouf would be the film’s lead actor. LaBeouf openly criticized the production of Indy 4, and Harrison Ford called the younger actor a “f***ing idiot” as time passed.

The Walt Disney Company then acquired Lucasfilm, and preparations for Indiana Jones 5 commenced. Harrison Ford told IGN(opens in new tab) that a portion of Indy’s history will be resolved in Indy 5, despite the fact that little is known about the film’s plot.

Disney’s schedule still lists it as “Untitled Indiana Jones” at this time. Note that this July 2022 date was still on Disney’s calendar as of March 2021, if you’re concerned about possible delays in the release date process.

Production was scheduled to begin in August 2021, but filming has already begun, with Harrison Ford and members of the cast spotted near Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. According to reports, the iconic Bamburgh Castle could make an appearance; you may recognize it from the early Harry Potter films, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and the 2015 Christmas special of Downton Abbey.

And Indiana Jones 5 may or may not be the series’ concluding installment. At the Disney Investors Day 2020 in December, Kathleen Kennedy announced the film as the “next and final installment.”

Expect Indiana Jones 5 to sound correct as well. John Williams, the legendary composer, returns to score Indy. In 2016, Steven Spielberg confirmed Williams’ return on the red carpet at the American Film Institute event honoring the composer for a lifetime of work.

Indiana Jones 5 Potential Villains

There are currently two possible antagonists in Indiana Jones 5‘s cast. Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Kretschmann. Both are playing unknown characters, but have a history of being the antagonist. Banderas is an additional candidate.

Perhaps, Indiana Jones 5 will buck one or both trends. We would be more interested in a version in which Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays the antagonist.

If a website claims to host the Indiana Jones 5 trailer, it is most likely a bogus copy. As of now, there is no Indy 5 trailer. The casting is still being finalized.

As the film is still in production, we estimate that the Indiana Jones 5 trailer will be released no earlier than winter 2021/22.
