The New York Comic Con is presently in progress, and fans of The Legend of Vox Machina have received an abundance of positive news. During a panel at the event featuring the stars and executive producers of the series, an exclusive first-look clip of Season 2 was shown prior to the season premiere in January 2023, along with a recap clip featuring Sam Riegel and Peter Habib performing an original song to bring viewers up to speed. In addition, the team revealed that Vox Machina will return for a third season of adventures on Prime Video.

Amazon has a great deal of faith in the critically acclaimed Critical Role series after Season 1’s tremendous success. This year’s first live-streamed Dungeons & Dragons campaign reintroduced everyone to Vox Machina, the beloved motley band of adventurers featured in the Dungeons & Dragons series.

Retelling the Briarwood arc as well as a precursor story about their first real expedition together, the series won near-unanimous praise from fans and critics for its ability to convey both the epic sense of high fantasy and the more lowbrow, chaotic nature of a friendly D&D game.

Due to the presence of dragons, the new footage places Vox Machina in imminent peril. With Season 2’s adaptation of the original Critical Role’s Chroma Conclave arc, we are treated to the breathtaking sight of chromatic dragons wreaking havoc on the city of Emon and sending the adventurers fleeing for their lives.

It begins almost as a horror sequence, with scary music and silhouettes of animals swooping above the city until alarm bells sound and people begin to panic. As they freeze a number of guards and bring a tower crashing down on the villagers, only a quick peek of their destructive skills is provided, but it is enough to establish them as a real threat in the future season.

As for the recap, it has Scanlan (Riegel) telling the story of Vox Machina through a catchy song, flashing viewers through Season 1’s events as he humorously describes what’s happening. In addition, he prepares the audience for the next battle against the dragons, encouraging them to “buckle up for another thrilling ride.”

Travis Willingham (Marvel’s Avengers), Marisha Ray (Final Fantasy XV), Taliesin Jaffe (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn), Taliesin Jaffe (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Liam O’Brien (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II), and Matthew Mercer (Overwatch).

In addition, Brandon Auman (Star Wars: Resistance), Chris Prynoski (Metalocalypse), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), and Ben Kalina serve as executive producers (Big Mouth)

In January 2023, The Legend of Vox Macha returns to adventure on Prime Video. Check out the clip from Season 2 and the review of Season 1 from NYCC below.
