For the first time in almost a century of life Minnie Mouse adds a pantsuit to her wardrobe. And it will not be any old pair of slacks, but an iconic shade of British fashion designer Stella McCartney.
Although the sneak peek of Minnie’s new Sartorial report is coming soon, her full makeover will be released in March to commemorate two different dates: International Women’s Day and Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary. A press release on the project said McCartney was chosen to create the look because of her “legacy of female leadership” and her commitment to sustainability.
“Minnie always has a special place in my heart,” McCartney said in a press conference shared with CNN. “We share the same values, and what I like about Minnie is that she expresses joy, self-expression, authenticity … and she has such a great style.”
McCartney explained in the video that Minnie’s own report-making team is a bespoke blue tuxedo with black polka dots and a matching bow, and that it is made of “responsibly made fabric”. He hopes the new look will transform Minnie into a “symbol of progress and empowerment for the new generation.”
“They make her more masculine,” Owens told Jesse Waters in prime time, adding that Minnie Mouse in the band was trying to “destroy the fabric of our community.”
McCartney declined to comment on Owens’ comments.
For this International Women’s Day, Minnie will also be featuring a limited t-shirt collection with McCartney – featuring the phrase “Divine Feminine” – which will appear on the runway at the March 7 Stella McCartney Winter 2022 show and be available for purchase the next day.
