Rajon Pierre Rondo was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 22, 1986. His mother raised him alongside his three siblings, as his father abandoned the family when he was seven years old. As a child, Rondo was initially intrigued by football, despite his future success in basketball. However, his mother persuaded him to focus on basketball rather than football since she was concerned that football would be considerably more taxing on the boy’s physique.

Rondo rapidly distinguished himself as a talented basketball player throughout his high school years. After three years at his Louisville high school, he transferred to Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy, where he averaged 21 points per game as a senior. He also surpassed 303 assists, shattering the school record. During this time, he also received numerous additional distinctions and accolades and began to get considerable national attention.

Despite receiving numerous scholarship offers, Rajon decided to enroll at the University of Kentucky. Career

Rondo decided to quit college and become eligible for the NBA Draft in 2006. The Phoenix Suns selected him 21st overall and then traded him to the Boston Celtics on draught day. Rondo was selected as the first point guard in the draught. During his debut season, Rajon did not receive a starting position, and he appeared in only 25 games. Midway through the season, he earned a starting spot and began receiving more playing time. Even though the Celtics did not make the playoffs, Rajon was voted to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Although Rondo went on to lead the club in assists and steals the next season, he missed four games due to a back issue. He also rolled his ankle during the playoffs but recovered to help the Celtics defeat the Lakers and win the NBA championship. The following year, he was named to his first All-Star team and established several franchise records, but the Celtics were unable to defeat the Lakers in the NBA finals.
