Sanditon‘s second season has concluded and there’s the promise of another chapter on the horizon as PBS Masterpiece gives viewers a first glimpse at what’s to come in Season 3.
The show’s second season closed with another cliffhanger, and a small teaser given by PBS is guaranteed to generate a sensation. In Season 2 of the Regency-era drama, heroine Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) returned to the same seaside resort town only to encounter tragedy once more.
After Sidney Parker’s (Theo James) efforts to salvage his family through marriage to another left Charlotte grieving, his death produced even more havoc. She seemed to find brief happiness with the town’s notorious widower Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes), but by the time Season 2 came to an end, he’d dismissed her from her position as a governess for his niece and daughter, feeling as though he’d taken advantage of her and the position she worked at his estate.
When Colbourne realized his errors, it was too late to persuade Charlotte to reconsider her decision to leave Sanditon once more. Additionally, a brief glimpse forward in time reveals Charlotte’s engagement to Ralph Starling (Cai Brigden). However, may her situation change in Season 3?
“You’ll never guess who’s returned to Sanditon,” a voice that sounds eerily similar to Colbourne’s daughter Leo (Flora Mitchell) says in the excerpt below. Colbourne and Charlotte are seen together in the teaser at what appears to be a ball or gathering of some sort.
Is there still a chance for Charlotte to have a happy ending? Leave your opinions in the comments section below, and stay tuned for Sanditon Season 3 in 2023.
Will There Be a Sanditon Season 3?
Yes! Indeed, production on Sanditon Season 3 has already concluded. That indicates it has already been filmed and will almost certainly air on PBS’s Masterpiece.
When Will Sanditon Season 3 Premiere on Masterpiece on Pbs?
Sanditon fans will need to exercise some patience! According to Decider, the third and final season of Sanditon is scheduled to premiere on Masterpiece on PBS in early 2023.
What Will happen in Season 3 of Sanditon? Who Will Reappear in the Sanditon Cast? And Who Isn’t Going to?
Decider has been informed that Sanditon Season 3 will delve more into Charlotte and Colbourne’s relationship. Naturally, there is a snag.
“The season’s cliffhanger is Charlotte’s engagement to Ralph,” Sanditon showrunner Justin Young explained to Decider. “So that’s where we’ll find her at the start of Season 3. And that is the crux of the matter heading into Season 3: she adores Colbourne. He is smitten with her. We are aware of this. However, she is now engaged to Ralph, and how will that work out?”
Charles Lockhart (Alexander Vlahos) will also return next season, Young revealed, but don’t expect him to make amends with Georgiana (Crystal Clarke). Nonetheless, Miss Lambe’s situation should improve. “I feel pleased about where we left Georgiana after these two seasons,” Crystal Clarke told Decider. I’m rather pleased with myself. I’m excited for people to watch it and for their reactions.”
A few characters who will not return in Season 3 of Sanditon? Colonel Lennox and Esther Babbington (Tom Weston-Jones) (Charlotte Spencer).
“I don’t believe it’s a spoiler to state that we won’t see Lennox again in Season 3. “He’s sort of vanished,” Young stated. “I believe Esther has everything she’s ever desired when we leave her at the end of Season 2. She’s happy, married, and now has a child whom she adores, and that, in my opinion, concludes Esther’s narrative.”
“I’ve always maintained about this show that, like a novel, I believe we must respect the fact that characters have finite stories. When their tales are complete, rather than keeping them in an ensemble treading water, I’d rather say that’s the end of their story and they go on while we introduce new characters,” Young explained.
Why Is Charlotte in Sanditon?
When the time came to leave Willingden and return to the parish of Sanditon on the English coast, they offered to take Charlotte along so she could wash and enjoy the sea air. The Heywoods approved of this plan.
