Zachary Levi denies fan rumors that he is being replaced as Shazam! in the wake of Peter Safran and James Gunn taking over as co-heads of the DC Universe.
A fan on Twitter claimed to be “mad” that the Chuck alumnus would no longer be playing the superhero since “he was the ideal casting choice.” In addition, the Shazam! fan stated that Levi and Gunn are “good buddies.”
Another Twitter user cited the aforementioned statement and said, “I hope this isn’t true because his Shazam is the ONE thing in the DCEU that I would certainly throw my hands up to defend. “@ZacharyLevi is flawless.”
Levi saw the prior exchange and explained his present standing at DC by tweeting, “I wouldn’t trust everything you read on the internet. I’m Gucci, Ash. We all Gucci.”
Levi portrays Shazam in the sequel Shazam! In Fury of the Gods, he reprises his superhero role.
Fans of DC products are concerned about the future of their beloved actors in superhero costumes as Gunn and Safran create a new era for the universe.
Henry Cavill arrived in the Superman costume and teased his return to the DC Universe as the Man of Steel following a cameo appearance on Black Adam. However, Cavill’s homecoming occurred under the previous administration, and the new leaders of DC have other plans for Superman that do not involve him, confirming that his “time to don the cape has gone.”
Gunn is writing a new Superman movie and casting a younger guy to play the lead.
The recent rejection of a third party in the Wonder Woman franchise led to Patty Jenkins leaving the DC Universe. Gal Gadot hinted at sharing Wonder Woman’s “next chapter” with fans, and James Gunn stated that the actor was not “fired.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will not reprise his Black Adam role in a sequel for the time being since the character “will not be in their first chapter of storytelling.”
Oooh, I really wouldn’t go believing everything you see on the internet. I’m Gucci, Ash. We all Gucci. 😎 https://t.co/684SarbP1P

This Isn’t Today’s Only Big DC News
James Gunn has stated that DC’s future won’t be completely revealed until January, but that hasn’t prevented fans from speculating about the future of their favorite characters in the wake of nearly daily rumors and trade reporting on the studio. The cancellation of Patty Jenkins‘ “Wonder Woman 3” was announced earlier this month.
In the meantime, Henry Cavill announced his comeback as Superman in October, left Netflix’s “The Witcher” in November, then shared the news this week that he’s definitely out as the Man of Steel per Gunn and Safran’s vision for the studio.
Dwayne Johnson tweeted this afternoon that Black Adam will likewise be absent from the future slate of DC films, at least for the time being, just before Zachary Levi’s announcement. Levi’s sunglass emoji suggests that he isn’t concerned about the future of Shazam, despite the fact that virtually nothing feels certain in the world of DC films right now.
At the time of publication, it is uncertain whether Levi’s positive statement implies that his version of Shazam will survive the clean slate strategy the new leaders of DC appear to be pursuing, but it definitely seems to imply so. We will keep you informed as new information becomes available.
The release date for “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is March 17, 2023.
There are no plans to recast Shazam in the new DC Cinematic Universe, according to producer Zachary Levi.
