The Chestnut Man Season 2  “The Chestnut Man” on Netflix is part of the streaming service’s Nordic output, and the eerie, Danish Nordic Noir series is a prime example of its genre. The show features numerous frightening dolls, amputated limbs, and intriguing murder investigations, all of which are made more unsettling by the show’s tendency to substitute the genre’s typical, gloomy tones with an almost uncomfortably gorgeous backdrop of autumnal hues.

The first six episodes of Season 1 of “The Chestnut Man” introduce us to two alluring Copenhagen cops, talented desk job wants to be Naia Thulin (Danica Curcic) and tormented Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Flsgaard), who are paired to investigate a complex serial killer case involving high-ranking politician Rosa Hartung (Iben Dorner) and her long-lost daughter.

Fans of compelling murder mysteries have undoubtedly completed the series or added it to their Netflix queue, so it’s natural to question if there will be additional episodes. Let’s examine everything we know about Season 2 of “The Chestnut Man.”

The Chestnut Man Season 2 Release Date?

Season 1 of “The Chestnut Man” began on September 29, and, understandably, Netflix would not renew a foreign-language crime show before evaluating the first season. Therefore, there is no information regarding the debut date of the second season, or even if there will be a second season.

However, there can never be too many Nordic Noir crime programs with strong female characters, and Forbes is already comparing “The Chestnut Man” to “The Killing,” which is probably the genre’s pinnacle. There’s no reason why the streaming service wouldn’t order a second season of the intriguing Danish murder mystery “The Chestnut Man” if the first season performs well, given that these kinds of programs are not too expensive to produce.

Assuming Season 2 of “The Chestnut Man” receives the green light, the production cycle of a police procedural typically lasts a year, therefore the new season would likely premiere in late 2022 or early 2023.

The Chestnut Man Season 2 Cast

Season 2 of “The Chestnut Man,” if it happens, will likely shuffle the ensemble quite a bit because the titular case has been solved, and it’s unlikely that the survivors of the case will return to the fray. Expect a brand-new case involving brand-new suspects portrayed by brand-new actors.

There will almost certainly be returning attendees. The police officers that investigated the case of the Chestnut Man will likely be included in future seasons as well. Danica Curcic and Mikkel Boe Flsgaard are by far the most likely to return, while Naia Thulin and Mark Hess are tasked with locating the next criminal tormenting Copenhagen. Other police officers may also make a comeback.

Unfortunately, the Chestnut Man himself is unlikely to return for Season 2 of “The Chestnut Man.” David Dennis masterfully embodies Simon Genz, also known as Toke Bering, a multifaceted and dangerous villain. The character, however, does not survive Season 1. Due to her relationship with the killer, Rosa Hartung (Iben Dorner) may have also departed the show.

The Chestnut Man Season 2 Plot

Season 2 of “The Chestnut Man” will presumably center on a fresh criminal investigation, as the Chestnut Man case has been conclusively resolved.

Even if the show chooses to revisit familiar territory and focus on a new case tied to the Chestnut Man, there is a good chance that it will still be sufficiently unique to maintain interest. Possibly something regarding Linus Bekker (Elliott Crosset Hove), the mentally disturbed guy wrongfully convicted of several of Simon’s crimes?

Until word of a new season and its prospective idea emerges, it’s impossible to predict where a second season of “The Chestnut Man” might go, though it’s probably safe to assume that the program won’t veer too far from the incredibly effective serial murder mystery framework of the first season. It’s also a reasonable bet that a second season will focus on the budding romance between Thulin and Hess, which was all but established in the first season.

Our Response to the Film

The first season’s brutal serial killer thriller has a complicated plot with multiple false leads. We love that it has a strong female protagonist, and we hope to see more of this in the seasons.

Since the first season’s cast has been determined, the second season may have a whole new mystery to solve. It is also feasible that a second season will focus on Thulin and Hess’ growing romance, which was essentially established in the first season.

Conclusion

The program has gotten a great deal of praise from critics and viewers, with some even dubbing it “one of the year’s finest series.” Siren, a Danish author, was influenced by the “scary” song Danish children sing when crafting chestnut dolls as part of an annual tradition.

Sren noted, “When I picked up my youngest from kindergarten one Autumn day a few years ago, I observed the children creating chestnut men while singing a children’s song: ‘Chestnut man, do come in, Chestnut man, do come in.'” Even though the backdrop was so benign, the offer struck me as odd. Or possibly it was due to the benign nature of the setting.
