The new Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty is chock-full of heartwarming romantic comedies, of which there is nothing quite as effective.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on Jenny Han’s novel trilogy To All The Boys and follows Belly as she attempts to navigate a love triangle with her two oldest friends (who also happen to be brothers… complicated.)
By the end of the season, it appears that she has chosen her partner, but with two more books to read, is this decision likely to hold?
Our hypothesis is unlikely, or a third party will soon interfere with their connection. Here is everything you need to know about Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah’s future.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Potential Release Date
Yes! There will undoubtedly be a second season. Even better, production has already begun. The happy news was revealed on Twitter by the official account for the show.
Author Jenny and Belly actress Lola were ecstatic to be back on set, and we’re also thrilled that things have resumed up so fast following the season-one conclusion.
Fans had already established their camps as either team Conrad or team Jeremiah on the Twitter thread. Whoever you’re rooting for, it will be a while before we learn where Belly’s heart actually lies (it could even be with Cam – pfft, yeah right). Season two may have already begun filming, but we anticipate a June/July premiere for season two.
Teenage angst and turmoil to the max. Unfortunately, there is currently no official release date, but we are prepared.
If there are any updates, we will inform you immediately.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Cast
Lola Tung stars as Belly, with Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno as Conrad and Jeremiah, her siblings competing for her affections.
Without these three, the program would not exist, so expect their return. Also returning are Jackie Chung as Belly’s mother Laurel and Sean Kaufman as her brother Steven. In the forthcoming season, Conrad and Jeremiah’s father, John, will likely become more involved in the core plot.
Rachel Blanchard, who portrays Susanna, the mother of the boys, is a person we are unsure if we will see. After straining herself with years of chemotherapy, she revealed at the end of the first season that her illness had returned and that she would no longer pursue alternative treatments.
If she has tragically died between seasons, there is still a possibility that she will emerge in flashbacks. Belly’s summer crush Cam, or Cameron to Jeremiah, is unlikely to return. David Iacono, who portrayed Belly’s first boyfriend, was only featured in book one, and given that their story arc concluded satisfactorily, we expect him to return.
Though we are confident that he will continue to love her long after the summer is over. However, we have some new cast members! Beginning with Elsie Fisher and Kyra Sedgwick from Eighth Grade and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, respectively.
Elsie is expected to play Skye, while Kyra appears likely to play her mother, according to a video shot on set. Skye does not appear in the novel, and it is unclear if she will serve as a replacement for another character, but we do know she will have a recurring role.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Plot
The second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty will be based on the second book in the series by Jenny Han, It’s Not Summer Without You.
Let’s just say that Belly and Conrad’s first season romance conclusion doesn’t last long. It used to be that Belly eagerly down the days until summer until she could return to Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. However, not this year Not until Susannah became ill again and Conrad ceased to care. Everything that was nice and right has crumbled, leaving Belly wishing summer will never arrive.
“However, when Jeremiah informs her that Conrad has vanished, Belly knows just what she must do to restore order. And it can only occur at the beach home, with the three of them, in their former state. If this summer is actually the final summer, it should end where it began: at Cousins Beach.”
There may be minor alterations to the plot, but it is anticipated that this will remain essentially unchanged. And from the looks of things, this love triangle is about to become far more complicated. If things are genuinely on the verge of collapsing, it is scarcely shocking. Jenny alludes to this when describing the significance of a beloved character we’ve almost forgotten about, Junior Mint.
You are familiar with the plush polar bear that Conrad won for Belly off-screen when they were kids.
He may appear to be nothing, but the author writes that he “represents her first love and all the sentiments she experienced for Conrad as a little girl.” As the first season progresses, we see Belly’s feelings vary as she navigates several adolescent relationships and learns to recognize the flaws in her almost-romance with Conrad.
Despite their final connection, it is quite unlikely that she will forget anything she has learned. This will almost likely make matters more confused, as she will be torn between her heart’s desires and her head’s knowledge.
There is no question that Junior Mint needs more screen time.
