The series takes place in a fictional universe where countries vie for power by employing ninjas. The storyline is divided into two parts, Part I and Part II.
The eponymous character of the first series is Naruto Uzumaki, an energetic ninja who wishes to become Hokage. The eponymous Boruto Uzumaki is the son of Hinata Hyuga who is assigned to Team Konohamaru.
Naruto was ranked as the 38th best-animated show in IGN’s Top 100 Animated Series. Some critics felt the pacing for the first episodes was criticized as slow.
The top 9 Naruto Anime Main Characters are as follows:-
9. Hinata Hyuga
Hinata Hyuga (, Hyga Hinata) lacks self-confidence. Hinata’s timidity and reluctance to stand up for herself led to her father’s disappointment when she was vanquished by her younger sister Hanabi, who became his successor. Hiashi disowned Hinata and gave her to Yuhi Kurenai. Hinata started training under Kurenai’s direction to prove herself to her father. Hinata’s rising self-confidence derives from her adoration for Naruto, who inspires her with his zeal and dedication.
Hinata’s adoration for Naruto finally becomes love. Hinata reveals her affections to Naruto in Part II while sheltering him from Pain and helping him fight the Ten-Tails. Hinata marries Naruto after the Fourth Great Ninja War and The Last: Naruto the Movie, when she helps Naruto stop Toneri, and they have two children by the series’ conclusion. Stephanie Sheh voices her in the English dub of the anime.
8. Konohamaru Sarutobi
Konohamaru Sarutobi (, Sarutobi Konohamaru) is Hiruzen Sarutobi’s grandson. He wants to replace his grandpa as Hokage so locals would know him by name. He looks to Naruto for guidance, mimicking his work ethic, dedication, and distinctive jutsus like the Rasengan and Sexy Jutsu. Konohamaru vows on becoming Hokage after Naruto. By the series finale, Konohamaru is a jonin and team leader.
Masashi Kishimoto had trouble designing Konohamaru since he wanted him to be a smaller “punk” than Naruto, yet all of his tries looked like Naruto. He gave Konohamaru angry-looking looks and was pleased. 2:26 Hidenori Takahashi voices Konohamaru’s mature self in the anime. Colleen O’Shaughnessey voices Konohamaru’s pre-adult self, while Max Mittelman portrays his adult self.
7. Mitsuki
Mitsuki () is Boruto and Sarada’s strange buddy who makes sarcastic comments. Naruto Gaiden: The Road Illuminated by the Full Moon explains that Mitsuki is an artificial human produced by Orochimaru and a modified clone of him. He gets the name Mitsuki from being a “vessel” (, tsuki) for the “snake” (, mi) to occupy.
Mitsuki was challenged by Orochimaru and Log (, Rogu) to determine his loyalty; he elected to pursue his own path as the “moon” instead of a vessel, heading to the Hidden Leaf to find his “sun,” Boruto Uzumaki. Mitsuki can expand his limbs by dislocating his joints with chakra, while Orochimaru’s experimenting enables Sage Mode. Robbie Daymond voices him in the English dub.
6. Sarada
Sarada Uchiha is Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno’s daughter. She has acquired her mother’s “Cha!” speech tic and her father’s aloofness and reticence to praise people. Sarada searches for her estranged father in Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring, thinking she and Sakura are not related.
Sarada gains her Sharingan but has a bad first impression of her father Sasuke. She feels wounded and deceived when she suspicions is Karin’s biological kid since they wear identical spectacles. Sarada discovers that Sakura is her biological mother from Karin, who was Sakura’s midwife. Sasuke kisses Sarada’s forehead before departing and vows to return soon. He inherited his maternal family’s Gentle Fist skill, unlike his sister Himawari. Boruto pulls pranks to garner his father’s attention after becoming Hokage, such as defacing the Hokage Monument in the series epilogue. Boruto admires his father’s adversary and buddy Sasuke and subsequently becomes his disciple.
700 Boruto cheats his way through the Chunin Exams in Boruto: Naruto the Movie and its retellings. Boruto makes up with his father and helps him and Sasuke beat the Otsutsuki, who brands him with the Kama. He decides to follow Sasuke’s lead to help the Hokage. Boruto designs the Vanishing Rasengan while using a Rasengan. Boruto’s right eye may trigger a Byakugan-like dojutsu. Kokoro Kikuchi voices Boruto in The Last: Naruto the Movie and Yuuko Sanpei in later appearances. Maile Flanagan voices him in The Last and Amanda C. Miller in later episodes.
4. Kakashi Hatake
Team 7 is led by Kakashi Hatake, who is calm and smart. Team 7 is made up of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Kakashi has a dark past, but as an adult, it doesn’t bother him. He was very important to Naruto’s success because he taught him how to be a good ninja.
Kakashi knows how to use the Sharingan, which was a gift from his friend Obito Uchiha before he died. Late in part 2 of the series, Kakashi’s real eye was put back in place. Nagato kills Kakashi, but then feels bad and brings him back to life. In the last parts of Naruto Shippuden, Kakashi takes over from Tsunade as the sixth Hokage.
3. Sakura Haruno
Sakura Haruno (春野 サクラ, Haruno Sakura) is a member of Team 7. Kishimoto has said that he didn’t know much about what an ideal girl should be like when he made the character. As a child, Sakura was teased by other kids because of her big forehead, which Kishimoto tried to emphasize in Sakura’s appearance. Ino Yamanaka helped her feel better, and the two of them became friends. But as they grew up, they became less and less close because they both liked Sasuke Uchiha. At the beginning of Part I, Sakura has feelings for Sasuke and dislikes Naruto Uzumaki, even though Sasuke finds her “annoying” and Naruto likes her.
In the end, though, she comes to think of Naruto as a friend, while her feelings for Sasuke grow into a deep love. In the Japanese anime, her voice is done by Chie Nakamura. In the English version, her voice is done by Kate Higgins.
2. Sasuke Uchiha
Naruto’s adversary is Sasuke Uchiha. Kishimoto made him the “cool genius” for an ideal competition. Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke’s brother, slaughtered their family. [224th] Sasuke’s primary ambition is to murder his brother, and he adopts a cold, distant nature, perceiving everyone as tools to advance his objectives, much to his disgust.
Sasuke appears to value his colleagues more than vengeance after joining Team 7, sacrificing his life to defend them. Sasuke leaves the town after being defeated by his brother in Part I to seek power from Orochimaru. Sasuke has become a vigilante for Konohagakure after the events of Boruto. Yuri Lowenthal voices Sasuke in the English dub.

During Part II, the team reconstitutes as “Team Kakashi” (, Kakashi-Han) with two new members: Sai, who takes over for Sasuke, and Yamato, who is acting Captain. Team 7 reunites during the Fourth Great Ninja War to confront Madara Uchiha, who eventually becomes Kaguya Tsutsui. Naruto and Sasuke will fight their ultimate battle when the War is done. After the battle, Team 7 is permanently reunited.
