uzaki chan season 2

We’re accustomed to seeing two distinct personalities paired together in anime, as they may make for an unforgettable duo. When it comes to some romantic comedy anime programs, the idea of two distinct characters uniting is enhanced by the slow burn romantic path taken by the two.

It’s a route that frequently advances slowly, as two heroes gradually come to terms with their actual love for one another, despite their friends, coworkers, and family constantly shouting along with the audience about how evident those sentiments are.

Fortunately, for a series like “Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!” that is heavy on comic moments, fans have no problem with the protagonists taking their sweet time figuring out their feelings, as long as they can genuinely laugh along the way.

Take’s original manga series, about a loner introvert named Shinichi and his loud classmate Hana, who wishes to brighten his life in her own exuberant and unpleasant way, premiered in 2017. (via Anime News Network). It was just a matter of time until the series was converted into an anime, which premiered in 2020.

Fans didn’t have to wait long to learn whether the series would continue beyond its first season since a trailer confirming the continuation was posted immediately after the end.

With an official release date confirmed, here is all we currently know about “Uzaki-chan Want to Hang Out!” Season 2.

The Release Date: Uzaki-chan Season 2?

“Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!” premiered on July 10, 2020, but with only 12 episodes, fans wished to see more of Hana’s slice-of-life antics with Shinichi. Fortunately, the series has been renewed for a second season, although fans will have to wait a little while longer. Funimation said on Twitter that the second season is presently set for release in 2022.

While Funimation did not specify a specific date within that year, fans can anticipate a release during the Winter 2022 anime season, which begins in January 2022.

Otherwise, the series’s next season might follow the summer schedule established for Season 1 and premiere in July 2022. While the release date for Season 2 of “Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!” appears to be for Japanese television, this does not mean that the western audience will be left out.

Season 1 of the anime was streamed live by Funimation as it aired in Japan (via Anime News Network). The fact that the firm tweeted about Season 2 indicates that they would likely re-stream the show whenever it begins broadcasting internationally.

The Cast: Uzaki-chan Season 2

We were introduced to college loner Shinichi Sakurai and his underclassmen Hana Uzaki during Season 1 of “Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!” (via Funimation). The two were former high school classmates who ended up attending the same institution by chance. Hana made it her mission to break Shinichi out of his shell, much to his dismay, but the two became great friends as a result.

Season 2 will continue to focus on the two series leads, particularly as they continue to flounder in frustrating denial about their genuine affections for one another. A sizable portion of Season 1’s supporting cast will return. This includes Itsuhiko Sakaki, a friend of Shinichi’s, and Ami Asai, a café coworker. Itsuhiko and Ami teamed together last season to romantically reunite Hana and Shinichi. In Season 2, we can anticipate the two continuing their romantic attempts.

In terms of character introductions for the upcoming season, we may see more of Hana’s relatives making their animated debut. Last season, the anime introduced Hana’s mother, Tsuki Uzaki, and the season finale featured a cameo from Hana’s younger brother, Kiri Uzaki. Season 2 will see the introduction of Hana’s younger sister Yunagi Uzaki, according to one of the main graphics revealed on the official anime website.

The figure is seen in the background, peering over her bangs-covered eyes at her older sister and Shinichi. With her siblings and mother, this means Hana’s father Fujio Uzaki may make an appearance as well, bringing the anime series to a proper family reunion.

What Is the Plot of Uzaki-chan Season 2?

Season 1 of “Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!” focused more on Hana and Shinichi’s daily lives, as her efforts to get her upperclassman to abandon his loner lifestyle resulted in countless embarrassing occurrences for him. If the season finale is any indication, Season 2 may see the series refocus on its romantic side.

The anime series has remained faithful to the manga, with Episode 12 covering chapters 30-34, or around the beginning of Volume 4 of the manga (via Seven Seas Entertainment). While the manga continues to depict Shinichi’s struggle to accept the majority of Hana’s acts, the two grow much closer to accepting that their friendship is deeper than they previously believed. However, even as the two begin to act more like a couple, the revelation does not come easily.

In the manga, friends, relatives, and even a fortune teller all attempt to convey the most obvious truth about Hana and Shinichi’s emotions for one another and coax them together.

We don’t know how much more of the manga will be covered in Season 2, but by the time it premieres, it should have a good deal of material to work with. The manga is still in progress, with seven volumes having been published in Japan thus far (via Crunchyroll).
