Venus Ebony Starr Williams was born in Lynwood, California, on June 17, 1980, to Richard and Oracene Williams. Career
Williams began his professional career in 1994 when he was 14 years old. She made her Australian Open debut in 1998, losing in the second round to her sister Serena. This was their first meeting as professional tennis players. Venus defeated Serena and then lost in the third round to World No. 3 Lindsay Davenport.
