Who Has Been Arrested in Jennifer Dulos’ Disappearance?

Eight days after Jennifer Dulos was reported missing, the police arrested Fotis Dulos and Troconis for tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.

The arrest warrant affidavits for the pair indicate that state police investigators observed the pair stopping at garbage cans around Hartford’s North End around the time Jennifer Dulos was reported missing.

According to the affidavits, state police investigators discovered some of the bags they claim Fotis Dulos discarded, containing things ranging from kitchen sponges to garments bearing Jennifer Dulos‘ blood and DNA.

According to the affidavit, investigators originally studied security footage in the area after discovering that cell phones belonging to Fotis Dulos and Troconis were present at the time.

In September 2019, Fotis Dulos and Troconis were again charged with tampering with evidence. Investigators stated in arrest warrants that they thought Fotis Dulos was “laying in wait” for Jennifer Dulos at her New Canaan residence the morning she disappeared.

A blood-like substance containing Jennifer Dulos’ DNA was discovered in a vehicle belonging to one of Fotis Dulos’ employees, according to the affidavits. The police believe Fotis Dulos utilized the truck on the day his wife disappeared. The arrest warrants included traffic camera images depicting the pickup’s passage to and from New Canaan on the date in question.

On January 7, 2020, state police arrested Fotis Dulos, Troconis, and Mawhinney. Fotis Dulos was charged with murder, felony murder, and kidnapping, and Troconis and Mawhinney were charged with murder conspiracy.

According to arrest documents, Mawhinney was suspected at the time of assisting Fotis Dulos and Troconis in establishing an alibi the morning of the disappearance.

Police stated in his arrest request that Mawhinney was also affiliated with an East Granby shooting club where hunters discovered a “human grave” in the days preceding Jennifer Dulos’s disappearance. However, state police stated that after searching and excavating the area, they found no trace of Jennifer Dulos.

In affidavits requesting arrest warrants for Fotis Dulos and Troconis, investigators stated that they gave Dr. James Gill, the state’s chief medical examiner, evidence from Jennifer Dulos’ residence.

Gill determined that she sustained a life-threatening injury that required emergency medical attention. Investigators noted in the warrant that there was no proof that she had gotten medical attention after her disappearance.

Jennifer Dulos’ Divorce

Jennifer Dulos made the decision to end her thirteen-year marriage to Fotis Dulos. The divorce petition was filed on June 20, 2017. They were wed in 2004. During the trial, she stated that she knew her husband would be furious over the divorce petition. She also stated that her husband, Fotis Dulos, would react with some pranks.

Fotis has shared with Jennifer during their marriage his methods for inflicting pain on individuals who have wronged him. Jennifer and her children moved into a new rental home in New Canaan, Connecticut, after filing for divorce. Jennifer requested immediate custody of the children, but she was granted shared custody. Later, in 2018, she was granted sole custody of the children. Jennifer’s Disappearance

Jennifer has not been seen since May 24, 2019. After taking her children to school, she was returning home. The security camera of her neighbor filmed her homecoming. Her friends and relatives reported her missing to the authorities at approximately 7:00 p.m. People in her vicinity were very familiar with her, and they knew she would never forsake her children.

Fotis and a lady were captured on video disposing of bags in garbage cans on Albany Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut. After examining these suitcases, Jennifer-sized clothing, ponchos, and zip-ties were discovered. Jennifer’s DNA was found all over the objects that were retrieved from the garbage bin. After conducting this investigation, police determined that Jennifer was murdered.

Trial of Fotis Dulos

Michelle Troconis, who aided Fotis Dulos in the murder of his ex-wife, was allegedly Fotis’ girlfriend. On June 1, 2019, ABC News reported that Fotis and Michelle were charged with “tampering with or falsifying physical evidence and obstructing prosecution.”

Fotis and Michelle were both imprisoned for the murder of Jennifer and the destruction of all evidence. They were released from jail on January 8, 2020, for maintaining their innocence, however, Fotis did not appear for an emergency bail hearing. Later, he was discovered comatose in his garage and died on January 30, 2020, two days later.

A suicide note was discovered with his lifeless body. In the note, he stated that he had nothing to do with Jennifer’s murder and that he refused to spend even one minute in jail for something he did not do. He added that Michelle had nothing to do with the incident.

On March 3, 2020, all allegations against Fotis were dismissed. However, Michelle Troconis remains charged in relation to this incident. Even after all these years, the exact cause of Jennefir’s disappearance remains unknown.
